(November 18, 1937 - January 24, 2016) The family of Gloria Meadus regret to announce her passing at the Carbonear General Hospital on Sunday, January 24, 2016. Gloria was born on Bell Island on November 18, 1937 to John and Gladys (Reid) Skanes. In 1954 she married Gordon Meadus, also of Bell Island, and raised a family of 6 children. Missing her dearly are children: Lloyd (Barbara), Harbour Grace; Mable (Ron) Delaney, North River; Gordon Jr. (Mary), Harbour Grace; Lucy (Glenn) Thorne, Lloydminster, Alberta; Carmel (Paul "Bunyan") Pike, Harbour Grace and Paula (Andre) Gagne, Lloydminster, Alberta. She was the proud Nan to 11 grandchildren: Keith, Ryan, Bradley, Gregory, Melissa, Paul, Brandon, Andre, Fay, Gordon (GG) and Leanne; she was Nanny Gloria, (or Glowy) to 12 great-grandchildren delighting in their visits and any babysitting duties when she was called upon. Her spare bed was always ready for the many requested sleepovers, especially for Reilly who, for years, was a constant in her life. Gloria is predeceased by her husband: Gordon Sr. (1994); grandson: Lee Meadus (1992). Coming from a family of 16 children, she is also predeceased by brothers: Bill, Arthur, Patrick and Edward; sisters: Viola, Emma, Lillian, Vera and Gwen. She leaves to mourn her brothers: John (Patricia) Skanes, Oakville, ON, Lemore (Hilda) Skanes, Cambridge, ON and Woodrow (Heather) Skanes, Bedford, NS, three sisters: Dorothy Sweeney, Bell Island, Susie (Ron) Christie, Cambridge, ON, and Doreen Sharpe, Paradise; sister-in-law: Juanita Skanes, Cambridge, ON, and a large number of nephews and nieces. The family will receive relatives and friends at Noel's Funeral Home, Harbour Grace on Monday, 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon, 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., and Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Funeral service to take place at St. Paul's Anglican Church on Wednesday, January 27 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in St. Paul’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Harbour Grace. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Anglican Church, P.O. Box 28, Harbour Grace, A0A 2M0. "See ya, loves ya, bye"....'til we meet again, please God.
