Obituary of George Penney

October 1, 1932 - April 22, 2016 Passed peacefully away after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's on Friday, April 22, 2016, George Penney of Blackhead, age 83 years. Predeceased by infant daughter; parents: Nelson and Beatrice; sisters: Sue Reeder, Ruth Foote, and Millicent Jacobs; brothers: Joseph and Clarence. Leaving to mourn, his wife of 60 years, Daphne; two daughters: Fay (Rick) Short, Adam’s Cove and Sonja (Vernon) Clarke, Carbonear; son: Randy (Christine), Ochre Pit Cove; seven grandchildren: Daniel (Melissa), Trevor, Jillian, Kari, Katie, Jason, and Trent; two precious great-grandchildren: Thomas and Zoe; sister: Daphne (Clarence) Cole, Victoria; also many nieces, nephews, and other relatives, as well as colleagues and students from his years of teaching, and numerous friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at Noel's Funeral Home, Main Highway, Western Bay on Monday, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and Wednesday, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. from Noel’s Memorial Chapel, Western Bay.
