Passed suddenly but peacefully away at Aberdeen, Scotland on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, Edison 'Ed' Oates of South River; formerly of Carbonear, age 50 years. Predeceased by parents-in-law: Thomas and Sybil Mercer. Leaving to mourn, wife; Marlene; son: Adam (Nicky Hoyles), South River; parents: Ted and Greta, Carbonear; brother: Ian (Jennifer), Carbonear; sister: Tanya (Stephen) Gosse, Alberta; brother-in-law: Craig (Angie) Mercer, Shearstown; two special nieces: Caitlyn and Molly; special friends and business partners: Chad Parsons and Steve Noseworthy and families; also a large circle of extended family and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Monday, 12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service to take place on Tuesday, August 22 at 2:00 p.m. from Bethany United Church, Carbonear. Interment in the Interfaith Cemetery, Carbonear. As an expression of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
