Passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Carbonear General Hospital on Friday, November 10, 2017, James R. ‘Jim’ Whalen of Riverhead, Harbour Grace, age 89 years. Predeceased by parents: James and Susanna; sisters: Eileen, Jean, and Marjorie. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 64 years, Joyce; daughter: Eileen (George) Power, Toronto, ON; two sons: George (Brenda), Carbonear and Phil (MaryAnn) Snow, Riverhead, Harbour Grace; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister: Violet (Robert) Dayberry, Haughton, Louisiana, USA; special daughter-in-law: Janet; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace on Saturday, 7:30 to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place on Monday, November 13 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Riverhead, Harbour Grace.
