As you say goodbye to your mother today, just know she will not be forgotten. She will remain, in our hearts, one of the unique women from Victoria who was cherished by so many. Joan was one of the last remaining elders of our church in Victoria, making this all the more poignant. She was a treasure; Heaven’s gain today.

I still smile when I think about our last visit, she was a force to reckon with. Your hearts must be broken but at the same time full of love for a remarkable, strong woman. Sending you strength at this time.

To Joan’s family :
I share with my family’s sense of loss and grief over the passing of Your mother , who was like a second mother to us , especially Sophie’s younger five. Joan was the best neighbour one could ever want or need.
Since early childhood both families , were connected with a common bond, as both women were widowed so young and with a large family .
There was no instructions . I guessed they learned from each other.
We now know , upon reflection, they sought their comfort and direction through God, and thus they gained their physical, mental, social and Spiritual strength .
They were a Credit to society.
Our lives can be a series of chapters, each with a tall tale, but now with the passing of Joan, the chapters are all summed up in a book , written on our hearts, and we close the book.
We all just have to measure up to the great examples , our darling moms left for us
Joan, you have excelled at carrying the Cross God gave you to bear, and now you lay it down at the feet of Jesus . I’m sure Sophie greeted you with, “COME ON PASH, what took you so long?”
We will miss Joan, the visits, the chats, the tea, and her beautiful, gentle spirit but we rejoice at the testimony she left behind. Today she is with our Lord and Saviour, whom she served and loved. It’s a sad loss for us , but Heavens gain.
“How beautiful Heaven must be , the home of the happy and free , my joy is complete , as I sit at His feet , how beautiful Heaven must be .

Blanche, Sandy, Joy, Peter and family,
It is with a heavy heart that I write this message to you today.
I am sad to hear the news that your precious mother passed.
I have such beautiful, heartfelt memories of Joan.
I can remember all the times that I spent at your home and the warm family welcome from your mom.
Not only did the visits include staying for hours but also included hours of brushing your mom’s hair – a treat she always enjoyed. I always made it a priority that every time I came home, I had a visit with Joan.
I know that you are sad today and will be in the days ahead.
I would like to say that I am praying that God will give you Peace in the days ahead. God has it all under control and your Mom is now with her heavenly Saviour.
As my darling mother would sing, “How beautiful heaven must be, the home of the happy and free. My Joy is complete as I sit as His feet. How beautiful heaven must be.” - What a joyful reunion she is having!
Philippians 1:21 “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
Love Onnie

To the Sommers family:
Glenda and I were saddened to hear of the passing of your mom. She was such a kind and loving person who always had a smile and a word of encouragement. Every time I got a chance to meet her following a service, she would always express her appreciation for the message that was preached and assure me of her prayers. When she was no longer able to get out to church, it was such a pleasure to visit her in her home. You will miss her, but take comfort in knowing that she's in the Presence of her Saviour and Lord where there is fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore. Be assured our our thoughts and prayers during those difficult days.
