Obituary of June Yvonne Cotter

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of June Yvonne Cotter (nee Soper) at the age of 83 years. With her family by her side, she passed peacefully at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home on Wednesday February 26 2025.
Predeceased by parents: William and Wesley Soper; brother: David Soper; sister-in-law: Lynda Soper; nephew: Jim Oates; parents-in-law: Jacob and Mary Cotter.
Leaving to mourn with cherished memories her husband Rex of almost 63 years; daughter: Heather (Roger) Powell; sons: Robert (Carol Ann) and Michael (Jenny); grandchildren: Nathan (Lindsay) Cotter, Stephen (Erin) Powell, and Rachael Powell; brothers: Ernest (Nancy) Soper and Bill (Jane) Soper; sister-in-law: Elsa (Max) Barr; nephews: Mark, and Matthew; nieces: June, Lisa, Katie, Lisa, and Natalie; also extended family and long-time friends.
June will be missed for her quiet kindness and giving spirit, love of family, piano playing, and the best roast chicken dinners ever.
The family are grateful for the tender care and compassion given by the staff on 3 East/West at St. Pat’s over the past few months, to the Provincial Dementia Care Program, and to the many home care workers who assisted June over the last few years.
Visitation will take place at Noel’s Funeral Home, 106 Water Street, Carbonear on Saturday, March 1 from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Funeral service in the Anglican tradition will take place on Sunday, March 2 at 2:00 p.m. from Bethany United Church, Carbonear.
In lieu flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children online at shrinerschildrens.org or Alzheimer Society of Canada online at Alzheimer.ca.
