Obituary of George J. McCarthy

Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital after a lengthy illness on Saturday, March 1, 2025, George J. McCarthy of Riverhead, Harbour Grace, age 79 years. Predeceased by parents: James and Irene; brothers: Edward (Alice) and Andrew 'Andy'; grandchildren: Robert and Randy Clarke; great- granddaughter: baby Allison Earle; parents-in-law: George and Evelyn King; Paul McCarthy. Leaving to mourn, loving wife of 55 years, Melvina; daughters: Wanda (Norm) Butt, Irene (Robert) Clarke, and Gena McCarthy; son: Georgie (Amanda); grandchildren: Heather (Glen), Robyn (Steve), Joshua, Justin (Kaitlin), Randy, Tyler (Grace), Madalyn, and Sophie Jo; great-grandchildren: Peyton, Tyson, Alexander, and Anderson; brother: Dennis (Ann); sisters: Rosemary (Clarence-deceased) Lynch and Marie Arnold; special friend: Gerard (Debbie) Reynolds; fur baby: Champagne 'Champ'; also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. His soft gentle soul will be missed immensely by all the lives he has touched. His mechanic skills were near and dear to his heart. The loves of his life were his great grandchildren, always wanting to see them. They brought such joy to his day. When I come to the end of my road, and the sun has set for me, I want no sadness in a love-filled room. Don’t cry for me. Just set my soul free, hold your head up and smile as I am free from pain. Remember me in love and a full heart. This journey I had to take and I leave the loved ones behind, I must go to rest now. Don’t forget I love you, Buddy. Don’t forget it. Visitation at Noel's Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace on Tuesday, March 4 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place on Wednesday, March 5 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Joseph's RC Church, Riverhead, Harbour Grace.
