Northern bay has certainly lost an icon, belle was truly “one of a kind”. One of our best new years was spent with Dot and Belle, what a comedic team. Hope her “trip” brings her back to her loved ones, as she waits for her loved ones present, on the other side. She certainly spoke dearly of you all, and you made her proud.

Louise, Zita, Noel and families,
So sorry to learn of your Mom’s passing. I was actually at her and your father’s wedding many years ago. She told me that I sang at their wedding reception. She was a good neighbour and friend to my Mom when she lived alone in Northern Bay, visiting her regularly. My sisters and I were very appreciative of that kind gesture. May she rest in peace.

I first met Belle when she and her sister Dot came to Goose Bay to visit Zeta and Noel. They both loved a game of cards. And although I hesitate to say there was stick-em being used, it seemed to me that the ace of hearts was shared by these two ladies all evening. LOL. Great evening and a good memory.

I adored Belle! She was feisty, and funny, and didn't mince words. She had a mind like a steel trap, a wit that was endless, and a compassion she sometimes tried to hide with bluster. She worried about swearing so much - I told her the worries were needless and the swearing was cancelled out by the fact that she kept a bag of cat food and had her home care workers put some out for a cat who ambled in the lane now and again, permitted us to fuss over him, and rewarded us with contented purrs and head boops. She loved her family and friends, and had a love hate relationship with her tablet that she referred to as 'the machine', or 'the ting we' or in terms that again had her lament that she swore too much.
