Obituary of Patricia Butt

Passed peacefully away with her daughter and son-in-law by her side at Pte. Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion Carbonear on July 25, 2025, Patricia Butt of Salmon Cove, age 83 years.

Patricia was predeceased by her husband Howard; her parents: Hayward and Elsie Legge; brother: Hayward Legge; sisters: Alma Higdon, Rhodie Piercey; brothers-in-law: Gerald Butt and Sam Chislett; nephew: Brian Legge.

Leaving to mourn with loving memories are her partner, Gerald Penney; daughter: Lisa (Steve Moores); brother: Ron Legge (Joan); sisters: Ada Butt, Phyllis (Ray) Penney, Shirley (Willoughby) Chislett, and Marion Chislett; sisters-in-law: Myrtle Legge, Nita Legge, and Kay Butt; brothers-in-law: Don Higdon and Scott Hall; also a large number of other relatives and friends.

Patricia (Pat or Theresa) worked as an LPN, retiring at the age of 61.  Her career started in Carbonear and then brought her to St. John’s where she spent her most enjoyable years working in long term care, missing it greatly when she retired.

Having spent the majority of her working life in St. John’s, after retirement and Howard’s passing, Patrica would often be found at her much-loved little house in Cavendish.  When she met Gerald, they spent 15 happy years in Salmon Cove, travelling to Florida every winter.  Known for her Sunday dinners, she loved it when family and friends dropped in for a meal or a cup of tea….and if a game of cards broke out, she was delighted! 

Her family would like to thank the doctor, nurses and staff at the long-term care home for their care and compassion for the last two months.  Your kindness will never be forgotten.

Funeral service to take place on Wednesday July 30, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from Noel's Memorial Chapel, Water Street, Carbonear.

Interment in Riverside United Cemetery, Salmon Cove.

In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
