Obituary of Katie Alice Galway
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Katie Alice Galway, age 36 years, at Carbonear General Hospital surrounded by her loved ones on Monday, August 4, 2025 after a short but very courageous battle with cancer.
Katie is predeceased by her grandparents: Graham and Hazel Lynch, Andrew and Susie Galway; and other loved ones.
Katie was an awesome and devoted mom to her son, Colton, who was her pride and joy; a dear daughter to Gary and Wanda Galway; amazing sister, sister-in-law, and aunt to her brother Gary, his wife Natasha, and their children, Esmeray and Emerson; loving girlfriend of Shannon Squibb and thought the world of Shannon's parents, Patsy Smith and Lew Squibb and their extended family; a special cousin, niece, and a true and genuine friend to so many. She will be missed by her furry friend, Woods.
Katie was a remarkable woman. She loved her dart and card families. She enjoyed many laughs with her Tim Hortons' work family and enjoyed many games of ball. Katie was sociable and outgoing. She never missed the chance to attend a get-together with family and friends. She loved spending time with her brother and his family and could always be counted on to help out and babysit the kids. After the surprise arrival of Colton (as you all know) Katie loved to spend her time making memories with Colton and Shannon. The outpouring of support that was shown throughout her journey demonstrated how much impact Katie made on so many people. Her mom was her best friend and she will always be Daddy's girl. She will be forever loved and missed.
