Obituary of Ronald J. Short
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Ronald J. Short on the morning of Sunday, August 10th, with his daughter Rhonda by his side.
Ron is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Rhonda (Ross); his grandchildren, Dillan and Castor (Annaliese); and his great-grandchildren, Hogan, Azalea, and Rosalie. He is also survived by his siblings: Stan Short (Patsy), Pat Roul (Johnny), Kay Bramwell (Tom), Rick Short (Fay), Rock Shortt, Mary Maddox (Terry), Terry Short (Joanne), and Sarah Shortt, as well as his nieces and nephews, each holding a special place in his heart. Ron will be deeply missed by many friends in both Edmonton and Newfoundland.
He was predeceased by his parents, Monica and Frank Shortt.
Ron wore many hats throughout his life—devoted father, proud Grand Pa, Great Grand Pa, loving brother, uncle, and loyal friend. A red seal auto mechanic, he dedicated 40 years of service to General Motors, taking pride in his work and craftsmanship.
Ron found joy in life’s simple pleasures: a round of golf with his brother and best friend Terry, time spent in the woods or trouting, working on cars, spending time with family, and enjoying a cold beer.
The family would like to thank Dr. Rorke, Dr. Bragg, Dr. Kehoe, Dr. Faris, Palliative Care Nurse Lori and Community Health Nurse Leanne for their compassionate care over the last 4 years. A special thank you to his niece, Rebecca Maddox, for her love, knowledge and care to both Ron and his family.
In true Ron fashion, he asked for no spotlight and didn’t want anyone put out. As per his wishes, no formal service or visitation will be held. A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date.
