Obituary of Evelyn Frances Pynn

Please share a memory of Evelyn Frances to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with deep sadness and love that we announce the passing of Evelyn Francis Pynn (née Sheppard), who left this world peacefully on September 24, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family.

Evelyn was the daughter of William Sheppard and Philomena (Barnes) Sheppard. From an early age, her kind heart and gentle nature shone through in everything she did. She grew to be a woman of great warmth and compassion, who found joy in the simplest things in life and was content with what she had, teaching those around her the importance of gratitude and love.

Ev will be remembered as a woman who gave selflessly and loved deeply. Her home was always open, her table always welcoming, and her sense of humour brought so much joy and comfort. She had a gift for making people feel valued and cared for, and her kindness touched the lives of many.

She leaves behind her loving children: Jaime Pynn George & Rick George (Son-in-law); Jillian White & Andrew White (Son-in-law), as well as her two daughter-nieces Kristianne Janes (the protector) and Kerrilynne Hawkins (her bestie and medical assistant) who were always by her side.

And the light and joy of her life, grandsons Avery George and Chase George as well as her special acquired grandaughter Siobhan Butt. She cherished every moment spent with them. Also leaving behind loving mother, Yvonne Sheppard.

Ev was blessed with Siblings who were also her best friends; Peter Sheppard & Josie Sheppard (Sister-in-law), Will Sheppard (deceased), Kathy Tetford & Ken Tetford (Brother-in-law),  Paul Sheppard and Penny Sheppard (Sister-in-law), Debby Vokey & Glenn Vokey (Brother-in-law), George Sheppard & Sandi Sheppard (Sister-in-law) and Sister-in-law Janice Pike and Sister-in-law Kay Sheppard (deceased)

Brothers and Sisters in law; Joan Moon (deceased), John Pynn & Linda Pynn, Isabell Harnish, Agnes Butt (desceased), Alice Earle (deceased) & Chess Earle, Gerald Pynn (deceased), Sheila & Gary Vokey.

Evelyn will also be forever remembered by her many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly and shared incredible relationships with. She was proud of each and every one of them and they all treated her as a bonus grandmother, always there for her in so many ways.

She spent many pool days and shopping adventures with her friend and cousin Philomena (Walbourne) Parsons and had her nephew Scott on speed dial for all and every emergency. Evelyn had many cousins who were more like siblings and she adored them all.

Evelyn is predeceased by her husband James William Pynn whom she loved dearly and shared many laughs with through the years.

The family takes comfort in knowing Evelyn’s final moments were filled with love and peace, just as she lived her life. Though she has left this earthly world, her spirit will forever remain with us—in the lessons she taught, the love she gave, and the memories we hold close.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 28 from 2:00 - 9:00 p.m., Monday, September 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Noel’s Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace. Funeral service to take place on Monday, September 29 at 2:00 p.m. from Noel’s Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to Janeway Children's Hospital Foundation, online at janewayfoundation.nf.ca.
