We are so sorry to hear of the sad loss of Bill. I had the pleasure of teaching with Bill in the late 1990s at CIC. Bill was a lovely man who will surely be missed. Thinking of you all at this difficult time.

Sorry to hear of Mr. Smith’s passing.
He was a great cross country coach and a great teacher. He spent lots of hours over the years waiting at the bottom of Kitchen’s Hill for us to run the cross country course and give us our times. He took us to Cross Country Meets and always encouraged us to do our best. A kind-hearted man who always had a word of encouragement to give whether it was at a meet or in math class.
Condolences to the Smith family.

Condolences to the family. Mr. Smith taught me at St. Paul's High School and taught me math. If it wasn't for him, I would never have gotten through it. He was kind and patient, and now, being in my 29th year as a teacher myself, I credit him for this. Rest in peace, Brother.

I am much saddened to see this. Mr.Smith taught at St.Paul's during my years there from 1982 to 1988. He was our cross country coach during that time. Our girls' team was very successful, with many zone and regional wins. Mr. Smith put in countless hours with us driving us far and wide to meets, including on weekends. When you are a kid you do not think too deeply about all of the time he sacrificed for us, but you certainly do as an adult! He contributed so much to St.Paul's and our lives. He was a great teacher and a nice guy to boot. I cannot recall him raising his voice to us, though some of us deserved it! Many years have since passed but he has not been forgotten by many students. Thank you to Mr. Smith for all of the extra hours you put in and for your attention and the fun times. It was great. Such teachers do leave a lasting impression on kids' lives, including my own.

yep. i did not do so well with the math going through school.... i was more of a computer person.. together through one of my contacts in montreal back in the day of the early 90s. this supplied all the computers first to the staff then the school and then the school board onto the rest of the schools in the district.... it opened the way of x86 micro computer technologies ms dos and windows.386 instead of 286. a leap in technology for that era.. bringing computer technology to education to rural areas of the newfoundland province. i received a nice certificate from the schoolboard back at that time as well for their appreciation of my contrabution. it was mr bill smith who tabled it carried it through and made it happen for the educational community of the area. 35 years ago..
