Roy was born in Victoria, NL in 1940. Upon graduating from high school, he began his career in construction. He started with the Department of Transportation as an apprentice land surveyor, travelling to Churchill Falls during the winter months. In the early 1960’s, he was employed by McNamara Construction as a surveyor, quickly advancing to project manager. As project manager, Roy overseen major projects such as CatArm Hydro, Trans-Canada Highway roads and bridges, Ontario Hydro projects, and so many more. After 44 years, Roy retired, although that did not stop the phone calls to see if he would come back for “one more project”. Roy and Mildred travelled extensively during retirement, with Barbados being their favourite destination. He was a “jack-of-all” trades and never hesitated to help out with any projects or renovations. He loved his daily walks around Victoria, stopping to chat with friends and neighbors. We are so thankful to have had him happy and healthy for 80+ years.

Our family wishes to extend a sincere thank-you to the 6th and 7th floor nursing staff of Carbonear General Hospital, as well as Dr. Deghani & Dr. Howse. Your compassionate care and kindness to Roy & our family will never be forgotten.

As per Roy’s wishes, there will be no visitation.

A family funeral service will be held at Noel’s Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society (alzheimer.ca) or Canadian Cancer Society, NL, P.O Box 8921, St. John’s, NL, A1B 3R9.
