Obituary of Lester Sparkes

Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital, Carbonear on January 16, 2026, surrounded by his family, Lester Sparkes of Victoria, formerly of Lower Island Cove, age 85 years.

Predeceased by parents: Eli and Beatrice Sparkes; brothers: Wallace (Margaret), Roy (Gertrude) and Gord (Judy) Sparkes; parents in law: Douglas and Nellie Sparkes; brother in law: Charles Sparkes.

Leaving to mourn, his wife of 62 years: Doris; daughter: Maxine Sparkes (Bruce Touchings); son: Barry (Sheri) Sparkes; brother: David (Gloria) Sparkes; brothers in law: Victor (Jean) Sparkes; also a large number of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A thank you and appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of the 6th and 7th floor of Carbonear General Hospital and 5 South B of Health Science Centre, St. John’s.

In keeping with Lester’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

Visitation at at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Sunday, January 18 at 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Funeral service to take place on Monday, January 19 at 1:00 p.m. from  Noel's Memorial Chapel, Water Street, Carbonear. Interment to follow at Interfaith Cemetery, Carbonear.

In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
