Obituary of Gwendolyn Jeanette Morris

In her 100^th year, after a very full life, Gwendolyn Jeanette Morris (nee Jones) of Harbour Grace passed peacefully away in her sleep on January 17 at the Private Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion, Carbonear.

Born to the late Sidney and Elsie (Pike) Jones on February 2, 1926, Mom spent her early years on Little Bay Islands. She graduated from Memorial University’s teacher’s college and taught grade 2 in Harbour Grace, where she met Dad (Frank Morris), her husband of 55 years. She loved teaching and later taught sewing at the vocational school in Carbonear. Mom loved travelling, knitting, and spending time with family and friends. She was passionate about her service to the church; enjoying UCW, visiting, attending bible studies, and holding a variety of offices over the years. She loved to learn new things, was a member of the women’s institute, and was a volunteer with the Carbonear Hospital auxiliary. Even into her nineties, Mom was an enthusiastic participant in St. Paul’s exercise group.

Lovingly remembered by daughters: Jeanette (Steven O’Neill), Judy (Eugene Foster), and Glenda (Peter Reinhard); grandchildren: Jonathan (Ashley), Jill (Jay), Gillian (Andrew), Timothy (Lindsay), Gregory (Heather), Elizabeth (Brent), Bradley (Stacey), Nathanael (Jessica), and Nicholas (Abby); great grandchildren: Monica, Thomas, Abigail, Maddox, Henry, Amelia, Kathryn, Cole, Oliver, Louie, Claire, and Lewis.

Predeceased by husband, Frank; sister: Marie (Weir); and brother: George (Jones).

Visitation to take place at Noel’s Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace on Saturday, January 31, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Celebration of Life to take place on Sunday, February 1 at 3:00 p.m. from Noel's Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Habour Grace.

An private inurnment will take place at a later date.
