Obituary of Doreen Eliza Barrett

Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family at Health Science Centre, St. John's on January 31, 2026, Doreen Barrett of Carbonear, age 91 years.

Predeceased by her husband: Maxwell Barrett; daughter Yvonne Barrett; son in law: Craig Shute; parents: Arthur and Annie Thomas.

Leaving to mourn, daughters: Susan (Roger) Kennedy, Stephanie Shute, Karin Barrett; son: Stephen (Diane) Barrett; 7 grandchildren: Maxwell, Devon, Brandon (Sarah), Kelsey (Andrew), Kristen (Matthew), Jacinta and Roger; 5 great grandchildren: Zarollina (her mother, Stephanie Ziolkowski), Kennedy, Marshall, Carter and Everlee; brother: David (Flora) Thomas in Barrie, ON; her special friends: Betty Forward snd Margaret Penney.

A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Carbonear General Hospital and 5 North A at the Health Science Centre.

Visitation to take place at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Wednesday, February 4 at 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday, February 5, at 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Funeral service to take place on Thursday, February 5 at 2:00 p.m. from Bethany United Church, Carbonear. Interment to take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
