Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, St. John’s on Saturday, February 21, 2026, Marie Porter of Blow Me Down, Port de Grave, age 101 years.

Predeceased by her husband: Cecil; parents: John Bertram and Mary Ann Bishop; son: Lester; son-in-law: Ross Fillier; brothers: Ned Bishop and Gordon Bishop; sister: Maria Mercer.

Leaving to mourn, daughters: Beulah (Randell) Rideout, Madeline (Marven) Parsons, Geraldine (John) Churchill, and Leta Porter (Peter Keefe); 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Barbara Porter; also a large number of other relatives and friends.

The Family wishes to thank Laura Morgan of Admiral’s Coast Retirement Centre, CBS and her staff for the wonderful care they provided to Mom over the past 16 years.  Words cannot express the love that was shown to our Mom. 

Special thanks also to the Doctors and Staff of St. Clare’s Hospital, Emergency Department and 7West, over the past three weeks, for their compassionate care.  

Visitation at Moore’s Funeral Home, Bay Roberts on Friday, February 27 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Funeral service to take place on Saturday, February 28 at 2:00 pm from St. Luke's Anglican Church, Port de Grave.

Intement at St. Luke’s Anglican Cemetery, Port de Grave.

In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to St. Luke’s Anglican Cemetery Fund through email transfer at pdgparish2020@gmail.com.
