Obituary of Jean Evans

Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with broken hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful Mother and Nan, Jean (Hindy) Evans at the Dr. A. A. Wilkinson Memorial Health Centre in Old Perlican on Saturday, February 21st, 2026 in her 81st year surrounded by her family who loved her beyond measure.

Predeceased by her loving husband: Wilson Evans; her parents: John and Ethel Hindy; parents-in-law: John and Doreen Evans; her special brother: Ray Hindy; special sisters-in- law: Frances Hindy and Ethel Fuller; as well as her forever loved niece: Beverly (Hindy) Reid.

Leaving to mourn and celebrate her beautiful life full of precious memories are her loving daughters, her absolute pride and joy, Bonnie (Darrin) St.George and Darlene (Mike) Torraville; her grandchildren whom she loved and cherished more than anything in the world; she was so very proud of each of them: Adam, Amy (Daniel), Bethany, and Mark (Meghan).  Jean was so very fortunate to have the continuous love and support of her older brother: Earl (Rosalind) Hindy; her sister-in-Law: Monica Hindy with whom she had a special bond; they were both by her side right to the end. Left with loving memories are her brother-in-law: Clarence Evans who never failed to visit on his trip to Winterton during Mom’s time in her home. Mom was also blessed to be called Aunt Jean by her many special nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a large circle of cousins and friends. We are so grateful that her nephews Charlie (Iris) and Raymond could be there at our side during a most difficult time.

We are beyond thankful to the Staff and Residents at Winter Holme Manor, Winterton, Mom’s home for the past 2 and a half years. The love and care she received was immeasurable and they truly made every day a special one for her. We know how much she was loved and the comfort they provided was a blessing. Even though Mom was a quiet, gentle soul, she dearly loved all the fun, kindness and attention she would get from the girls and her friends at Winter Holme. She enjoyed her meals to the fullest and she always smiled from ear to ear when she was called “Pretty lady”; she loved to be dolled up and was known for her fashionable taste in clothes. Your kindness and exceptional compassion will never be forgotten.

We would like to extend special thanks to Doctor Leung and Doctor Kehoe for their exceptional care of Mom over the years and to the Nursing Staff at the Dr. A. A. Wilkinson Memorial Health Centre in Old Perlican who went above and beyond to provide exceptional care and comfort during her last few weeks in the hospital. A special thanks also to Mr. Darren Squires & Therapy dog Rusty who provided much needed comfort & support during a difficult time. Mom loved the companionship of her cats and special grand puppy Maverick who always loved visits with Nanny Jean. Darren, your kindness meant a lot.

Visitation will be held at Green’s Funeral Home, Winterton on Thursday, February 26 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Funeral service to take place on Friday, February 27 at 1:00 p.m. from the Salvation Army Church, Winterton.
