Don was a retired school teacher and a contributing member of the Retired Teachers Association of NL. He spent much of his life as as volunteer in numerous community organizations such as the Mariner Regional Economic Development Board, Salmon Cove Development Association,Salmon Cove Town Council, Riverside United Church, Canadian Cancer Society and more. He gave his heart and soul to his community and area, in his efforts, to make them better places for locals and tourists alike. He was especially proud of and committed to, his beloved Salmon Cove.
Don’s love of family was extraordinary and he was respected for his dedication to family and friends throughout his life. Don was exceptional in communicating with people wherever he went. Few were better at listening and offering great advice whenever it was needed. His love, committment and dedication to his wife Gladys for 59 years was exemplary and showed us all that being a great husband and father was the most important job a man should have.
There are not enough words to describe this wonderful man but our heartbroken family would be honoured for colleagues, friends and family to come celebrate his wonderful life.
