Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family at Carbonear General Hospital on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, Annie Marie Purcell of Harbour Grace, age 90 years.

It is difficult to capture a ninety-year life in a few sentences. If Mom touched your life or you touched hers, thank you very much.

She was a very busy mom but yet kind, smiling, and joking, she gave to others before herself. Mom was the face and personality of our store in Harbour Grace that kept people coming back. As with a lot of people in her era, they worked hard, and did she ever.

The last three years were very important, as she was at Collingwood Downs Retirement Residence. We cannot thank the staff there enough for the care they gave her, the compassion and respect, but then again, she always added a laugh to their day. We would be amiss if we did not mention her room mate Lena, they were like sisters and Lena looked over mom so tenderly.

Over the last three years, everyone looked over her, but some things are rememberable, and she focused on them. Her newly found neice Marilyn, her dearest friend Freda, her boxing partner Jacob (great-grandchild), Billy (grandchild) that supplied all the sweets and treats. She cherished all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The phone calls everyday from people to make sure she was happy and in good spirits.

Lastly, we cannot say thank you enough to the staff at Carbonear General Hospital, for the respect and compassion given to mom and us during the last few days.

Loosing someone close is never easy, but we had the honor of being with her to the final stages as she left this world with peace and dignity. God Love her.
