Obituary of Mary Luciano

Mary J. (Sheehan) Luciano, 80, of Lynn, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, surrounded by family. She was the loving wife of Michael P. Luciano, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage. Born on June 3, 1946, in Harbor Grace, Newfoundland, Canada, Mary was one of ten children to James Sheehan and Minnie (O’Shea) Sheehan. She spent her life devoted to her family and the Catholic Church, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

First working as a civilian secretary in the U.S. Naval Base in Newfoundland, then as a nurse's aide to the Jewish Rehabilitation Center in Swampscott as well as the Devereux in Marblehead, no title brought Mary greater joy than being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved with her whole heart, always putting her family before herself, offering unconditional love that warmed all. To them, she was nothing short of irreplaceable - the very definition of what a wife, mother, and grandmother should be. Mary was a devout Catholic, calling Holy Family Church in Lynn, MA her home. She partook and led in various ways through her time within the Our Lady’s Sodality as well as serving as President of the Franciscans. Mary's Catholic faith was the foundation of her life, deeply rooted in every aspect of who she was. This unwavering faith was reflected in the compassion, humility, and selflessness she showed to everyone around her.

She is survived by her husband, Michael P. Luciano; three children, Michael and his wife Kristen of Salem, Tony and his wife Debbie of Lynn, and Sandra with her husband John of St. Louis; seven grandchildren, Michael, A.J., Maddie, Andrew, Abby, Mason, and Ben; as well as one great-grandchild, Audrey Carter. She is predeceased by her parents James and Minnie Sheehan and three brothers; Gerald, James, and Larry Sheehan, and survived by her other siblings; Jean (Sheehan) and husband Kevin Power, John Sheehan, Betty Pittman, Wayne Sheehan, Michael Sheehan, and Joan (Sheehan) and husband Joe Gregory.

Mary’s life was a beautiful reflection of God's love, and her legacy will continue through the countless lives she touched. Though she is now at peace in the Lord's embrace, she will remain forever in our hearts.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Holy Family Church, 26 Bessom St., Lynn at 11a.m. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, at the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt. 129), Lynn, from 9-10:30a.m., prior to the Funeral Mass.
