PIKE, John Stratford - Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's on Saturday, January 29, 2011, J. Stratford Pike of Carbonear, age 84 years. Predeceased by wife: Mary; parents: Stratford Canning Pike and Jessie; brothers: Joseph and Alfred. Leaving to mourn, one daughter: Stephanie (Leo) Harlick, St. John's; one son: Stephen, Ochre River, Manitoba; five grandchildren: Michael, Tim (Ania Polomska), Chris, Lindsay and Cameron; two great-grandchildren: Amena and Akira; one brother: Leonard (Melba), Happy Adventure; two sisters: Joan (Wallace) Farnham, Florida and Mary (Kelvin) Barrett, St. John's; brother-in-law: Reginald (Flora) Crane, St. John's; sisters-in-law: Phyllis Pocock, Sudbury, Ontario and Ruth Pike, St. John's; also a large number of other relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Wednesday, February 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, February 2 at 2:00 p.m. from Bethany United Church, Carbonear. Inurnment in Bethany United Cemetery, Carbonear. An invitation is also extended for the family to receive relatives and friends at his daughter's residence at 43 Fox Avenue, St. John's on Thursday, February 3 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation.
