After a very courageous fight with cancer, my mom / best friend / and single parent mom. My mom provided a lifetime of public service from working as grade school teacher to School Attendance Councilor or a Financial Assistance Officer. Joyce always thought the best of people and tried to help people reach their full potential. Always striving to do her best she instilled the value of a good work ethic in everyone's life. Living in Harbour Grace and working in St John's provided long days however Joyce bore this responsibility without complaint, hard work and long hours was the price she had to pay. During this she was a single-parent to her son Weston to whom she was many things. Mother/Father and most of all best friend and confidant. It was only when retired that Joyce found her true love Mark and spend 24 happy years together. While working with Mark they were inseparable spending many days on the road. During this time Joyce was blessed with the birth of her grandchild Alexandra, who became the pride and joy of her life. During the summers Alexandra would visit and the three would spend time on the road with many adventures.Always one to be active Joyce could be found shooting hoops at St Francis Field and walking the track every morning as the sun rose. Starting from when the snow went to when the snow covered the field again. Mom's goal was to shoot a 100 baskets every morning and always enjoyed the quiet of the sunrise and the promise of a new day. This routine continued until only after a routine checkup that mom was found to have breast cancer October 2010, this cancer quickly progressed and after a courageous and valiant fight till the last; wanting to battle and beat it all the way. Joyce was welcomed to heaven on February 8 2011. Celebrating her glorious life are; Her husband Mark Verge (whom she adored with all her heart - and although they found each other later in live it was a happy time for them both.) Son Weston Hunt (without whom her life would have meant nothing and made many sacrifices for him), More of a Daughter then daughter-in-Law Sharon, (Sharon and Joyce share a special bond and would always be known to cook or try something new together) Grand-daughter, the pride of her life Alexandra, (Alexandra was the pride of moms life and knowing that Alexandra was doing well in school provided much joy to mom) Only brother Dexter Noesworthy and wife Doris (who she spent many a morning having a coffee with), Nephew Kenneth, and his family. Viola Noel (the sister she never had) Lillian & Gary Cooper and Family (Billy and Sheila) There are too many people to list who have helped us during this time and I know I have forgotten many names and all those family and friends who have attended. A large extended group of family and friends whose life was graced by her touch, kindness and whit. The family would like to extend thanks to the: Cancer Society, Daffodil place, Nurses on both the 6th and 7th floor of the Carbonear General Hospital and all the Doctors and workers at the Cancer Center. The list is too long to mention whose kindness during this time has been more then appreciated.
