Obituary of Bert Downing

Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family at Pt. Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion, Carbonear on Thursday, February 8, 2018, Bert Downing of Harbour Grace, age 74 years. Predeceased by parents: Bert Sr. and Winnifred; father-in-law: Robert A. Hunt. Leaving to mourn, wife: Lydia; two daughters: Janet (Rod) Butt, Perry’s Cove and Heather (Steven Pynn), Harbour Grace; one son: Blair (Kayla), Witless Bay; poppy's pride and joy, his grandsons: Jacob and Carter; two brothers: David (Donna), Victoria and Cyril, Harbour Grace; one sister: Glenda (Eric) Colbourne, Carbonear; two special little friends: Maddison and Connor; mother-in-law: Betty Hunt, Edmonton, AB; three sisters-in-law: Eleanor (Dave) Evely, Flatrock, Nita Hunt, Carbonear, and Maxine (Barry) Tessier, Edmonton, AB; three brothers-in-law: Chesley Hunt, Carbonear, Bob Hunt (Shirley), St. John’s, and Roger (Rebecca) Hunt, Australia; also a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; especially his neighbours on Downing Street. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace on Friday, 7:30 to 9:00 p.m., Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service to take place on Sunday, February 11 at 2:00 p.m. from Coughlan United Church, Harbour Grace. Cremation to follow. Inurnment to be held in Coughlan United Church Cemetery, Harbour Grace.
