Obituary of Marie Baker

Please share a memory of Marie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with hearts full of grief that the family announce the passing of their mother at Pt. Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion, Carbonear on Sunday, November 12, 2023, Marie E. Baker of Carbonear, age 78 years. Marie was born in Carbonear to the late Augustus and Annie Clarke; the first child of seven. She was always a caring and kind big sister to her family. She met the love of her life, Jim Baker, and together they raised two children. They took great pride in providing for their family. She was a hard worker who lived a full, active life working in various restaurants, as well as Carbonear Hospital for many years. She loved her Lord with all her heart, this was shown in her devotion to her church, Salvation Army Citadel. She got involved wherever she could, such as teaching Sunday School and leading Home League. Marie loved to express herself with color both in her passion for her flower garden; spending endless hours planting, weeding, and painting rocks, as well as with her impeccable taste in fashion. She will be truly missed but we find comfort knowing she is reunited with her husband, the love of her life, and is safe in the arms of Jesus. The family wishes to express thanks to her home care workers for their love and care to their Mom; they treated her like family. Predeceased by husband: James; parents: Augustus and Annie Clarke; sister: Kay White; brother-in-law: Peter White. Leaving to mourn, daughter: Carrie (Wade) MacAloney, Amherst, NS; son: Jim Jr. (Janet), Amherst, NS; two grandchildren: Leonard and Alexander; four brothers: George (Glenda) Clarke and Perry (Rhoda) Clarke, both of Victoria, Paul (Jacqueline) Clarke, Heart’s Delight, and Lee (Betty) Clarke, Carbonear; sister: Linda (Allan) Willmott, Bay d’espoir; also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Wednesday, November 15 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, November 16 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service to take place on Thursday, November 16 at 2:00 p.m. from the Salvation Army Citadel, Carbonear. Interment in the Salvation Army Cemetery, Carbonear. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to the Salvation Army Citadel Building Fund, P.O Box 137, Carbonear, NL, A1Y 1B6.
