GARLAND, Mayor Claude J. - Passed suddenly away at Carbonear on Tuesday, October 19, 2004, Mayor Claude J. Garland of Carbonear, age 56 years. Predeceased by infant daughter: Holly; parents: Ronald C. and Louise; father-in-law: William Rowe. Leaving to mourn, wife: Cairine; three daughters: Joanne, Charlottetown, PEI, Augusta (Robert) Harris, Bedford, NS and Sandra (special friend Camilo), Miami, FL; one son: Claude Jr., Carbonear; one brother: Ronald Jr. (Wanda), Carbonear; three sisters: Glenda (John) Baker, St. John's, Pamela (Roy) Young, Corner Brook and Betty (Calvin) Powell, Carbonear; mother-in-law: Edith Rowe, Carbonear; brothers-in-law: William (Janice) Rowe, Gerald (Cheryl) Rowe and Peter Rowe, all of Carbonear; George Rowe (Janice Pike), Bristol's Hope; sisters-in-law: Sandra (Randolph) Greeley, Upper Island Cove, Deanette Rowe, Carbonear and Jennifer (Mark) Gosse, Spaniard's Bay; also a large number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Resting at NOEL'S FUNERAL HOME, WATER STREET, CARBONEAR until 12:00 noon Saturday, October 23. Funeral service to follow on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. from St. James Anglican Church, Carbonear. Interment in the Interfaith Cemetery, Carbonear. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
