PARSONS, Ellen Jane 'Nellie' (nee Gear) - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Wednesday, May 11, 2005, Ellen Jane 'Nellie' Parsons (nee Gear) of Salmon Cove, age 103 years. Predeceased by husband: Matthew, 1935; three sons: Mose, Will and Matthew; two daughters: Alice and Lilly; two step-sons: Hedley and John Robert; one step-daughter: Jane; parents: John and Eliza Gear; five brothers: Jim, John, Reuben, Israel and Tom; five sisters: Mary, Susannah, Alice, Ada and Cicily. Leaving to mourn one daughter: Mildred Johnson, Torbay; one son: Hector, Whitbourne; daughter-in-law: Winnie (Mose deceased), Markland; a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law: Rhoda Gear, Bell Island; also a large number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Resting at NOEL'S FUNERAL HOME, WATER STREET, CARBONEAR until 12:00 noon Friday, May 13. Funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. from Riverside United Church and Cemetery, Salmon Cove. In lieu of flowers; as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to Riverside United Church, Salmon Cove or the Children's Wish Foundation.
