DALTON, Vera I.- Passed peacefully away at St. Luke's Nursing Home, St. John's on Tuesday, August 16, 2005, Vera I. Dalton, formerly of Western Bay, age 85 years. Predeceased by husband: William Frazer; parents: James and Ina Crummey; sisters: Doris, Aggie and Serena. Leaving to mourn two daughters: Sandra (Bud) Duffett, St. John's and Patsy (Stan) Short, Placentia; two sons: Gladstone (Linda) and Terry (Cathy), both of St. John's; nine grandchildren: Nancy (Wade), Kerri, Tracy (Cory), Sheila (Mark), Debbie, Valerie (Paul), David (Kim), Julie and Stephen; sixteen great-grandchildren: Megan, Matthew, Christopher, Courtney, Katelyn, Kristine, Matthew, Sarah, Abby, Rachel, Gabe, Jessica, Sean, Halle, Kyle and Emily; two brothers: Angus (Vicky) Crummey, St. John's and Roy Crummey, Goulds; six sisters: Hazel Sellars, Western Bay, Blanche Whitten and Elizabeth Pincent, both of St. John's, June Wood and Eulah (Ken) Traverse, both of New York, USA and Hilda Lester, Toronto, ON; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, St. John's on Wednesday, August 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Then resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Main Highway, Western Bay on Thursday, August 18 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. from McDowell United Church and Cemetery, Western Bay. Flowers gratefully accepted or as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Sincere gratitude to St. Luke's staff for their understanding, kindness and compassion.
