SPARKES, Roy E.- Passed peacefully away at the Dr. A. A. Wilkinson Memorial Hospital, Old Perlican on Tuesday, September 12, 2006, Roy E. Sparkes of Sibley's Cove, age 81 years. Predeceased by brother: Albert. Leaving to mourn wife: Alice J.; three children: Sylvia (Alfred) Froude, Sibley's Cove, Les (Joanne) Sparkes, St. John's and Marian (Glenn) Squires, St. John's; daughter-in-law: Marian Sparkes, Sibley's Cove; six grandchildren: Gregory (Melanie), Gordon (Patsy), Neal (Renee), Lesley Ann (Johnathon), Glenn and Justin; five great-grandchildren: Ryan, Jarod, Parker, Hannah and Chelsea; step-grandchildren: Katrina (Dennes), Kristy (John) and Chantel (Gord); step-great-grandchild: Nathan; three brothers: Howard and Gordon, both of Ontario and Vincent, Sibley's Cove; three sisters: Violet Goodwin, Old Perlican, Goldie Rodgers and Letty (Wilson) Pryor, both of Sibley's Cove; brother-in-law: Gordon (Mae) Rodgers, St. John's; sisters-in-law: Annie Hopkins, Brownsdale, Lucy Barnes, Sibley's Cove, Frances (Heber) Pryor, New Melbourne, Linda (Richard) North, Bay de Verde, Joan (Wilfred) Eddy and Mary Rodgers, both of Sibley's Cove; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Resting at Bethel United Church, Sibley's Cove and from where the funeral service will take place on Thursday, September 14 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Bethel United Cemetery, Sibley's Cove. In lieu of flowers; as an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to the Dr. A.A. Wilkinson Memorial Hospital c/o TCP Health Foundation, 86 Highroad South, Carbonear, NL A1Y 1A4.
