Aunt Carolyn, Bruce and Family, So sorry to hear of Aunt Maude's passing. I have very fond memories of her and Uncle Matt... one of my favorites being her help with my blueberry pudding recipe. I remember as a young girl, possibly pre-teen, my sisters had me almost convinced that I was adopted, as I didn't seem to resemble either my mother or my father.
I was telling my aunt Maude this on one of our many visits, and she alleviated my worst fears as she said to me "My dear, you do belong to us! You look like our mother's side of the family; the Holloway's and the Baldwins, so you are definitely not adopted. This was of great comfort to me as a young girl.
I also remember as a young child being totally afraid of Aunt Maude, as she was so strict. (I think that was the teacher in her.) Carolyn was my best friend as well as my cousin, as we were so close in age. We would sleep in the same bed when our families would visit, would giggle like all little girls do at that age.
Aunt Maude would always come in and separate us to our chagrin.
(It was not until years later, when I had my own kids that I would understand why that happened.)
Then later, as I grew up and visited her home as an adult and we had the most wonderful visits, talking about history of the Green family (all to the amazement of my husband Herb;) eating her homemade partridge-berry pie, and driving all over Trinity Bay area, to re-visit the land where I had spent a lot of my childhood.
Then the last few years, whenever we visited Newfoundland, I always had to go and see Aunt Maude,in the nursing home even if she didn't really know me, or could put a name to me. She looked at me intently, as if she knew that I belonged to her.
I will certainly miss my Aunt Maude, but have wonderful memories.

We are so very sorry for the passing of our Aunt Maude. She is at peace finally, but to Carolyn and Jim, and Bruce and Murial, and families, you have lost your mom, mother in law, and Grandmother, who has left you behind, as she journeyed on ahead. I know that you will feel the emptiness, but you have years of wonderful memories to call upon. Aunt Maude had a fulfilling life, although hard at times, had the love of her brothers and sisters, and her beloved husband, my Uncle Matt, and she left quite a legacy with her children. "Count the garden by the flowers, never by the leaves that fall. Count your life with smiles and not the tears that roll. With much love, Daphne (Green) And Herb Choquette Ingrid and Peter Kingston, Ontario

Carolyn, Bruce and Family. Much sympathy to you on the passing of your Mother after a very long and productive life. I am sure each of you will remember her in so many ways - Carolyn during meal preparation and Bruce, for her many visits with your Family in Texas, to name but a few. My memories of your Mom and Dad go back to the days when you lived on Cornwall Crescent, Badger, Bay Roberts, Carbonear and finally, Broad Cove. They were wonderful years with some great memories. As an "only" child, I was fortunate my parents has such good and close friends. Our visits to your home were always filled with good fun, laughter and exceptionally great food. You are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Olga & Curtis
