Rita Hogan - Her Legacy
Nine children, thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild
Anne is a retail manager in Kitchener, Ontario. Her strength of character and courage are clearly demonstrated in her quiet battle with cancer, one that she's winning. Anne's son, Jeff, manages a call centre in Halifax where he lives with his wife, Lindsay. Anne's daughter, Terri, is a manufacturing manager with Research in Motion (RIM), the makers of BlackBerry.
Al has worked for the Brampton Chrysler Assembly Plant for 23 years. The plant makes the Charger, Challenger and 300. He is well known for his kind-hearted nature and generosity, and his love of Marge Bailey. Al's daughter, Krystal, works as a Veterinary Technician in St. Catherine's where she lives with her husband, Jeff, and their family of furry friends.
Larry carries his father's name and lives in the house built on the foundation of the original family home in Northern Bay. Larry works for the local fishing industry. Both of his children, Scott and Martina, are out west working for the oil industry in Alberta.
Martina lives in Victoria with husband, Oral. She was employed in the health care field for many years, quite fitting for her role as nurse-maid and angel of comfort to Mom during her illness. Martina's son, Steve, is an account manager at the Chrysler Brampton Plant and is engaged to Cheryl. Daughter, Nikki, is an office manager in the oil industry in Alberta.
Frank lives in Brampton where he works with the City of Brampton as a groundskeeper. Loyal to his friends and family, he's also known for his wit and sense of humour. Frank's daughter, Jessica, is currently enrolled in the Esthetics program at Humber College in Rexdale, Ontario.
Cyril and wife, Faith, recently moved to St. John's from Brampton so that he could take on the management of the Newfoundland operations of Canadian Springs. He is the father of Ashley and grandfather of little Chloe who currently live in Montreal.
Fabian and wife, Joanne, live in Caledon where he runs HoganRoy & Associates Inc., as well as a cottage rental business. Fabian's favourite pastime is working with his brother Frank and nephew Steve on the soon-to-be-famous Walt Disney Construction Company. Son, Jacob, an accomplished football player, attends McMaster University in Hamilton.
Damian and wife, Sue, live in the completely reconstructed century house that our father, Lawrence, grew up in. Damian is a journeyman electrician and strong proponent of the union movement for the electrical workers employed across the country, including the oil rigs. Daughter, Chelsey, is actively enrolled in the Pharmaceutical program at Memorial University. Son, Lawrence, is currently completing his last year of secondary school.
Ray, the 7th son and last born, and wife Cindy, live in Brampton with their beautiful four year-old daughter, Kaitlin. Ray has been employed with Canadian Springs in Mississauga since the day he arrived in Ontario. He is a staunch labour advocate and chief steward for the Teamsters Union at his company.
Character, generosity, loyalty, entrepreneurship, history, and solidarity - what a legacy indeed, Rita!

We are so sorry to hear about the passing off your Mom. She was a wonderful lady. Rita and my Mom spent a lot of time together, going around to card's and going to Carbonear when they would get their cheques. We would sit by the window when they were getting ready to go somewhere to watch for Rita. She would alway's stop at the end of the road.We certainly missed all this when my Mom passed away. They will meet now on the other side and maybe have a game of card's or two. The day's ahead will be hard but remember all the good times that all off you had and this will help you. It's never easy to lose someone you love and we have been there this past few year's. Thinking and praying for you all in the day's ahead..R.I.P. Rita...

To Martina and the Hogan family: We wish to express our sympathy and offer our condolences on the passing of your mother. I briefly met your mother during her stay at the CGH this summer. Upon talking to her, she told me that she was from Northern Bay and that she knew my mother (from Northern Bay as well). I enjoyed the short chat that we had that day.
