We remember that at least we were able to have a few very lovely dinners together with great conversation plus a visit to your beautiful house and wonderful pets, not to mention some very sage advice. We are thinking of you at this time. Fond memories, Shirley & Robert

I had the fortunate opportunity to work with Ms Lockllin as an Assistand Administrator from the opening of the new Carbonear General Hospital in 1975 to 1991. There were many challenges in those early years, growing pains, but through Ms Locklin's dedication and superb leadership the mission statement of the CGH was conceived and set in motion. She was always optimistic and provided an atmosphere which allowed all staff to realize their full potential. Our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones. Rest in peace, Elva.

We are finding it almost impossible to believe that such a strong spirit has actually been taken from us and our heartfelt sympathy goes out to all those who loved her especially to Diz who devotedly took care of her in latter years. Almost the first person to greet us as a family on arriving in Carbonear in 1968 was Elva with her welcoming smile and twinkling eyes, having been instrumental in ensuring there was a lovely welcoming home ready for us. Our friendship, respect and admiration has continued throughout the years and she will be sorely missed by all those whose lives she touched in so many ways.

Dear Ms. Dichmont, Our thoughts are with you at this time. Fond memories of Ms. Locklin include when I first went to work at Carbonear General Hospital and she was the CEO; she always had a warm greeting for me as I'm sure she did for all the staff. Just a few months after I began working at the hospital on a part-time basis, I was admitted for gallbladder surgery and as soon as I was able to welcome visitors, Ms. Locklin was beside my bed with a lovely smile. Visits to Lockmont's Gift Shop were such fun, always a place to bring visitors who were looking for a unique present to bring home; and our family's first trip to England and Scotland in 1985 was made "perfect", in no small part because of the great travel consultants we were so fortunate to have - you and Ms. Locklin. Sincerely, Marilyn & Bob

My thoughts and sympathies are with you at this time. Great Aunt Elva touched a lot of lives in her life time. She was a great inspiration to me. I heard many a stories about her from: the delivery of my mom, to her nursing in Iseral, to her work in the hospital up north and in Carbonear. She inspired me to continue to make learning a priority as she did when she went back to university in her 70's. She had a beautiful soul and will be sadly missed by all.

Dearest Aunt Diz, I was deeply saddened to hear of Aunt Elva. Praise God she is with the Lord. I know this too gives you great comfort in the midst of great sadness. Now she has joined Edie, who looked so much like her. Every time I see you both, which I know isn't very often, I'd think that is what Edie would look like at that point in life. I have notified Janey, Russ and Greg. Each of them are now married and have children of their own. Presently, Janey is living in Naiorbi with her husband and two kids, teaching at Rosslyn Academy. Kim and I are going to Kenya for Christmas to be with them. Russ lives in Seattle, while Greg is in Vancouver BC. May the Lord hold you tight dear Aunt Diz. We shall all be reunited in Jesus.

Ms. Dichmont, I am so sorry to hear about Ms. Locklin's passing. I have many fond memories of working for the both of you during my youth in Crockers Cove. I remember Ms. Locklin as an intelligent but soft spoken , stately lady with a subtle wit. The community has surely lost someone who was a pioneer in her time and a role model for many. May the wondeful memories of your rich life together bring you comfort in this difficult time.

Ms. Dichmont, We are saddened to hear of Ms. Locklin's passing. We have fond memories of our time together in the Cove. I especially remember her coming to Carbonear Community Hospital as the Administrator and remember fondly her leadership style and ability. It was truly groundbreaking for a woman to take on the role, at the time. She was truly a role model to many of us young women. Her accomplishments both at the Hospital and the community were many, but most of all the impact she had on all who were fortunate enough to have worked with her cannot be measured. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. May God give you peace during this time of loss.

I had an opportunity to work with Elva when she was the CEO of the Carbonear Hospital and I was Chair of the Board . She was a true leader and was able to get the most out of her staff and associates . There were some trying times back in those days however we were able deal with the issues because of the dedication and ability of Elva . She was a modest person who shunned the spotlight . In her day and generation she did make a difference to her community and was devoted to her work and service to others .May her eternal rest be peaceful
