I am so sorry for the loss of Jack. I have very vivid memories of visiting him on Gully Path when we were young - we would be so excited to see him. He was always so kind to us. I will never forget how he trained the crows to come eat from a tin can in his hand! It seems all kinds understood his gentle nature. My favourite memory: the proudest salute I have ever seen. That's how I will remember him. All our love,
Karla, Dave, Madeline and Anne

To Jack's family,
I have such fond memories of Jack and his friendly greetings when I'd be passing by on the way to the brook or the frog pond. Many times I was asked, "The water wet today?" on my way home from the turnhole - which always brought a smile to my face. Such a sweet, gentle man.
My condolences.

Kay, Gertie, all nieces and nephews, it was with great sadness Steve and I heard of Jack's passing, for me who grew up with the family on my back door, you could say, I find it very sad indeed. We offer to you our thoughts and prayers as we remember a great friend and neighbour. As you probably know we are out of the province at this time but with you in spirit. Hugs to all.

May Jackie rest in peace. When I was little girl I swam at the turn hole like everyone else in Riverhead but I was afraid to go under the water. He showed me how to do it and kept encouraging me until I finally did it .Eternal rest grant unto him oh Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him.May he rest in peace,Amen .

To the Callahan families I am truly sorry for your loss Jack was a very honerable man and I want to share a little story with you. We operated a used furniture store and didn't have much money to get by on so one day Jack bought something from me and I changed his check for him and gave him back 100.00 dollars too much. But when I realized it jack did also and returned the money to me . RIP Jack you were a wonderful man I could never forget.

Aunt Kay, Aunt Gert and family,
We wish that we could be with you today (and many days). I would love to share with you the inspiration Uncle Jack had instilled within me when I was only a little girl. Over the last few years he has instilled the same in my children, especially Callahan. Our hearts are with you and all the family today. I've said many a time that we are so lucky to call him "Our Uncle Jack".
Love,
Charlotte, Aubrey, Emma, Callahan & Marie Clare.

My deepest condolences to my Aunt Kay and Gert as well as the rest of my family. If mom and dad were still with us I know they would feel the same. I will always remember Uncle Jack's visits to Bell Island and off couse my visits to the Gully road to see him and all the wonderful things I recall from that time and place. Seems like it was just a little while ago.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Jack's family...I meet him many years ago when he came to Gander for a visit and dropped in to see my mom, Margaret O'Brien ( Mary and PJ Walsh's daughter). We use to get a Christmas card from him every christmas, and mom often spoke about him..they are up in heaven together now reminiscing about the good old days in Riverhead S
