Heartbroken to hear of Glenis' passing. "To know her was to love her" and to lose her is
a great loss to us all (especially her family whom she loved and who loved her dearly).
Her greetings and friendship was so genuine and uplifting. She was the ultimate demonstration of JOY (Jesus first/Your(her) ownself last/and Others in between. I will always remember her kind gesture when Mom was in Carbonear hospital. She caringly said, "Hubert go to the cafeteria for something to eat and I'll sit with your Mom". In the midst of our sorrow we have the Great Hope of being reunited soon. We pray that our Good Shepherd will be with you in this "valley of the shadow of death" and sustain you until that time.

The Town of Victoria was so saddened to hear of Glynis's passing. She was a person who always met you with a smile and a " how are you and your family".
Everyone in town I'm sure knew her because whenever it was possible she was out walking, with her sidekick Marie. Glynis was a very faithful woman who dedicated much of her time to the Pentecostal church, especially functions related to the children. She proudly displayed her Love for her God and her church and was there whenever she could to lend a hand. To her family I pray for the strength to help you through the days ahead, and I'm sure she's walking on the Streets of Gold. On behalf of the citizens, staff and council members of Victoria, I want to extend our sincere condolences and May God bless you all.

No words can express our deepest sympathies for you at this time. Your lost today is enormous, no doubt! Glynis was loved by all who knew her. Her smile, her hospitality and her genuine concern for others was always evident and not to mention her Love for Christ. She was a committed Christian and a faithful worker in God’s Kingdom. I know you will miss her, but today you can be assured that she is singing, “Cares all past, home at last, ever to rejoice…” Paul the Apostle encourages us in 1 Thessalonians 4:13, Brothers and sisters; we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. Glynis had plenty of hope, her hope was in Christ the anchor of the soul.
We are praying for you all at this time.

My heart is heavy as I write this. Glynis was one of the most amazing, beautiful women I have ever known, certainly like a second mother to me while I lived in Victoria. She raised four beautiful and incredibly talented children with her husband who was the love of her life. I'll never forget the meals shared around the Vater's table, the countless sleepovers, baseball games in the backyard, snow tunnels in the winter, the hum of the sewing machine and the hours spent around the piano singing and playing. I have memories of when she taught me in Sunday school and Crusaders, whether we were memorizing a Bible verse or baking cookies for a badge, she always made it fun and enjoyable. I loved every minute that I spent with your family and your Mom was always so entertaining, energetic and made your house a beautiful home. You have so much to be thankful for...you were so blessed to call her yours. My deepest love and condolences.

Aunt Glynis was a very special person. She was fun loving and filled with seemingly boundless energy. Some of my favorite childhood memories involve visiting her and her family in Victoria. Her home was so welcoming and we were often treated to her delicious turkey dinners! Amanda and I were recently talking about how she was always up for whatever we wanted to do. If we wanted to go somewhere Aunt Glynis was the first to enthusiastically say she would join us. She was also a very selfless, kind and giving person. " I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing."

To Dave and all of the Vaters and Clarke family
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there: I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circling flight,
I am the soft star shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there I did not die.
This beautiful verse was written by Mary Frye in 1932 and it is a beautiful way to think of Glynis. She will live on through you all and your precious memories. She will be missed. I will miss seeing her and Marie walking each day and her pleasant smile and usual wave. God bless you all.
