Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Sunday, February 7, 2016, Vera M. Slade of Salmon Cove, age 90 years. Predeceased by grandson: Preston Crowley; brothers: Chesley, Isaac and Lester; sisters: Winnie Allen and Pearl Churley. Leaving to mourn, one daughter: Judy Slade (Philip Mix), Riverview, NB; one granddaughter: Lisa Crowley (Stephen Blanchard), St. John’s; four great-grandchildren: Rebecca, Nicholas, Dylan and Zoe; one sister: Emily Butler, St. John’s; sisters-in-law: Eliza Slade and Jenny Slade, both of Salmon Cove; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Tuesday, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, February 10 at 2:00 p.m. from Riverside United Church and Cemetery, Salmon Cove. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to Daffodil Place, 70 Ropewalk Lane, P.O. Box 8921, St. John's, NL, A1B 3R9.
