Obituary of Matthew J. Lahey

Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's on Sunday, April 24, 2016, Matthew J. Lahey of Harbour Grace; formerly of Bell Island, age 81 years. Predeceased by parents: John and Bridget; Daughter: Mary 'Elaine' Lahey; son: Johnny Charles; grandson: Alexander Joseph McEachern; brothers: Jack, Leo and Cyril; sisters: Ellen, Geraldine, Annie, Mary and Margaret; sister-in-law: Helen Purcell. Leaving to mourn beloved wife of 58 years: Mary 'Mame'; three children: Matthew (Fiona), Veronica (Alvin) McEachern, both of Ontario, and Garry (Karen), Mt. Pearl; five grandchildren: Dereck, Lucas, Brooklyn, Ryan and Kyle; five great-grandchildren: Brayden, Breanna, Alex, Jayden and Maddison; daughter-in-law: Chantel Lahey, ON; two brothers: Wally (Della), Blackhead, and Bill (Helen), ON; two sisters: Theresa Thomey, Bristol’s Hope, and Shirley O'Shea, Hr. Grace; sisters-in-law: Marg (Tom) McCarthy, Hr. Grace, Madeline Hamilton, Paradise, Betty Fewer, Hr. Grace, Marie Murphy, ON, Veronica Crann, ON, and Evelyn Rees, Bell Island; brother-in-law: Alfred (Jean) Adams, Hr. Grace; special friends: Clyde Reynolds, Jack and Chris Noseworthy, Ivan Penney and Linda Sheppard; also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Harbour Grace on Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place on Friday, April 29 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Riverhead, Hr.
