We will always be grateful to Ralph who along with my dad, Scott White and my uncle, Irving White built our first house in Huntsville on their own time many years ago giving us a great start in life. We remember Ralph skipping along the rafters laughing, scaring my uncle half to death.
I spent a few summers mowing grass at the cottages they rented out. They were good times. Ralph and Eleanor treated me so well. I have many great memories and will miss them both.

We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Ralph. So soon after Eleanor (Ell to us). He was a very special person who always had a humorous thought to share. Growing up with him close by was something that has shaped Donna and I. For me, he along with my Dad, made me love carpenter work. I recall as a youngster having a rope placed around my waist while pitched on the roof of #7 cottage at Echo Bay in Huntsville while Ralph was building it - he made sure I was safe and by his side. I had my own little hammer and pencil for which I asked Ralph to “peel mine too” when he was sharpening his. There was always an unexpected “jab” or action such as having my glass of milk filled over the rim at snack time, being told to be careful and then as soon as I tried to drink Ralph slapped the table so that the milk spilled…then he called you a “slop”. Such fond memories. I know for a fact that my Aunt Bertha was on the receiving end of that kindness and was able to be independent so to speak so late in her life because of their actions. We have lost a kind soul but are forever grateful for being a part of his life. Both he and Ell were so kind and helpful to so many and are always going to be in our hearts as our beloved second parents. We will always miss you!
