Obituary of Eli Dowden
Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, Eli Dowden of Carbonear, age 85 years. Predeceased by wife: Wilma; parents: Stephen and Frances; sisters-in-law: Ella Hiscock and Janet Hiscock; brother-in-law: John Hiscock. Leaving to mourn, two daughters: Glenda Baldwin (Glenn), Goose Bay, and Elizabeth (Herb) Mercer, Upper Island Cove; two sons: Stephen 'Steve' (Mary) and Wade (Betty), Carbonear; nine grandchildren: Sherri, Dana, Kurtis, Michael, Lori, Ashley, Mary, Amanda, and Kyle; nineteen great-grandchildren; special friend: Winnie Butt, Carbonear; two brothers: Jim (Lina) and Charles (Anne), both of Carbonear; sister-in-law: Marg (Harold) Hancock, Carbonear; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Thursday, 2:30 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Saturday, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service to take place on Saturday, December 23 at 2:00 p.m. from Noel's Memorial Chapel, Carbonear. Interment in the Interfaith Cemetery, Carbonear. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to the Interfaith Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 257, Carbonear, NL, A1Y 1A6.
