Thinking of you all with deepest sympathy. Elsie was a beautiful lady inside and out. She always had the brightest smile and always took time for a little chat. I remember how she loved going to church, liked to sing and had a beautiful voice. Now she is your Guardian Angel singing with the Heavenly choir. God bless.

Elsie's Family; Sorry to hear of her passing. Mary and a I visited her a couple of times at Pleasantvillle Towers but, not enough because we were taken up wth our sister Emily who is also a patient. In her usual way she was always there with a hug and a smile. I knew Elsie when she was living home. She did sewing for me and also when she came to the Council office. She was always very pleasant and wanted to know how every one was. A very nice lady who dressed up wherever she was going. She is no longer confused in her mind and body and gone to Heaven to be with her loved one. RIP Elsie.

Our deepest condolences to Elsie's nieces and nephews, and also our condolences to those who treated her like part of their family on the P.C. Unit at Pleasant View Towers and the Hoyles in St. John's. Our family got to know Elsie while our Mom, Philomena Croke, was at the Hoyles from 2009 - 2013. While visiting there with our Mom on the Unit, there was always a visit from Elsie (who most of the staff there referred to as Aunt Elsie). Elsie loved to chat about her cats and about all the things she used to do when she was a young girl. From telling us about all the hay she turned over in the summers, to how much she loved her cats (especially Fluff), to the ducks her family had, to the fifteen children one of her brothers had, to her days with the children at Sunday school..... we could just go on and on about the topics that she spoke about. She was always a very soft spoken and polite lady that wanted to make friends with everyone. Although we can not speak of the Elsie before her illness, we know she was quite the lady as the Elsie we all got to know. May Elsie now rest in peace. We're sure the P.C. Unit will not be the same without her there. God bless.

We were so very sad to hear of Elsie's passing. The Bottom has lost an icon from the 'old way of life'. Countless times you'd hear of her tending to frostbite on a person, (her own father being one of those cases) to advising people how to make a remedy for whatever ailment, to tending to, and usually with success, to a wounded or sick animal.
She loved her geese and ducks and I can still hear her scolding them to 'come in for the night'. One visit to her one day saw her worried sick about the poor thing...been coughing all night, must give her another bit of antibiotic...but she won't stay behind the stove in the warm. tsk, tsk, tsk ...don't know what I'm going to do to get her through this! She won't listen!" This entire conversation was to herself...about a sick cat.
No one cared more for humans or animals than Elsie. You could say she was a forerunner and a cross between a local doctor and a vet....old style!!!
If ever anyone deserved a place in heaven, it would be Elsie!
