Obituary of Gertrude 'Gertie' Grimes

Passed peacefully away at her residence on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, Gertrude ‘Gertie’ Grimes of Carbonear, age 72 years. Predeceased by parents: Frederick and Bertha Ash; mother-in-law: Margaret Grimes; sister-in-law: Florence Jenkins; brother-in-law: Brian Fillmore. Leaving to mourn, husband: Frank; two daughters: Jennifer and Nicole (Brent) Yetman; two sons: Peter (Jackie) and Chris (Nikki); five grandchildren: Kaitlin, Keenen, Breah, Cayleigh, and Azaria; five sisters: Flo (Harry) Downey, Muriel (Frank) Patten, Emma Fillmore (Terry), Bertha (John) Nicholl, and Margaret (Dave) Penney; one brother: Calvin (Ann) Ash; father-in-law: Ronald Grimes; brothers-in-law: Bruce Jenkins, Dennis (Barb) Grimes, Ronnie (Donna) Grimes, Ernie (Surina) Grimes, and Daniel (Charlene) Grimes; sister-in-law: Juanita; also a large number of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at Noel's Funeral Home, Carbonear on Thursday, December 20 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A private family inurnment to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to the Gertie Grimes Memorial Fund, c/o Noel’s Funeral Home, 106 Water Street, Carbonear, NL, A1Y 1A9.
