Obituary of Florence Oake
Passed peacefully away after a brief illness at Hamrick Home Hospice Center in Okeechobee, Florida on Monday, January 14, 2019, Florence Loretta Oake of Harbour Grace. She was born October 24, 1935 in Harbour Grace, NL to Frederick and Helena (Squires) Parsons. Florence was a Nurse Practitioner for 19 years and served many hospitals in Coastal Labrador, Michigan, and Florida. She was a lifelong learner as evidenced by her nursing license which expires in April 2019. She had a lifetime of volunteer services with many organizations.
Florence was predeceased in death by her husband of 25 years, Victor Oake; sons: Derek Pike and Terry Pike; sisters: Mary and Sidney; brother: Alexander “Sandy” Parsons. Leaving to mourn, two sons: James Pike (Linda), Jerry Pike (Theresa), and special nephew: Christopher Lahey; six grandchildren: Vanessa, Greg, Trina Reynolds (Philip), Jerome, Terry (Jill), Dion (Charlene); great-nephew: Anthony; great-niece, Sydney; nine great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Alice Parsons; special friend: Fred Hoffman; step-daughter: Joan Cuson (Joe) and granddaughters: Maggie, Julia (Joe Ramirez), Brianne (Kevin Schmidt), and eight grandchildren; step-sons: Wayne (Diane); granddaughter: Adrienne; Russell (Denise): grandchildren: Scott, Amy (Bryan McCartey), Russell Jr (MaryAnn), Andrew (Heather) and five great-grandchildren: Cyril (Jennifer) and grandchildren: Taylor (Holly), Audrey (James Kidd), Grayson (Hannah) and four great grandchildren and a large circle of family and friends. Cremation has taken place, as per their wish both Florence and Victor will be interred together. The family will receive relatives and friends at Noel’s Funeral Home, Harbour Grace on Sunday, March 3 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 pm to 9:00 p.m.; Monday, March 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service to take place on Monday, March 4 at 2:00 p.m. from Coughlan United Church, Harbour Grace. Interment in the United Cemetery, Harbour Grace. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to Coughlan United Church Local Expense, PO Box 209, Harbour Grace, NL, A0A 2M0.
