Sorry to hear Ed has passed
Always enjoyed our conversations at the post
and his deep love for his home town
One of the last times we spoke he told me that he had always hoped
that Hr Grace would one day look after all of its historical land marks
the way Trinity did , but at last it's not happening …
My brother moved away many years ago. Woody sent me some beer from Montreal via Canada post... when I went to get the package the contents had broke …
Ed smiled as he passed me the parcel and said "believe Wood sent beer" it was dripping … Ed laughed and said "enjoy !"
A true gentleman has passed
RIP Ed

Edward, my older brother, was someone I deeply respected, admired and loved. We did things we enjoyed together as teenagers. He always encouraged me in any sports activities I pursued; for example, soft ball, hockey. I remember Ed was a good goalie and, unlike goalies today, he did not wear a mask. I think it is okay to say I more interested in school than Ed. but I was proud of my brother's accomplishments. I was thrilled when he got a job in the post office and I was not surprised when his colleagues or postal workers remarked how smart he was, especially at Math. I was so happy for him when he married his beautiful wife Betty (I attended the wedding , though my graduation from MUN was on the same day). Ed was a devoted family man, a loving husband and father/grandfather. I'm glad I had the opportunity to tell my brother "I love you" before he died. It meant a lot to me and I know it meant a lot to Ed. I will miss you Ed. But I hope and long to see you again in that glorious land where there is no more death, no more pain, sorrow or tears (Revelation 21:4). May the God of all grace strengthen and comfort all the family during this time of deep sorrow and grief. Love Rayburne.

Betty and Ed’s extended family
I have known Ed from our childhood -over 60 years.
He was a very competitive person in the numerous sporting
events in which we took part thru the years
He was a good teammate - he always came to play and he did so with ability and determination.
From his work in the Post Office he engaged many with his knowledge of numerous subject matters - he was never reticent to put forth an alternative point of view
He was a very engaging person- he had many friends and had a productive life .
His illness took a toll on him but he was always positive and made the best of his situation.
He is now at rest and may that rest be in peace
Godspeed my friend.

Betty and family, sorry to hear of Ed's passing. I knew Ed for many years and we enjoyed many conversations on many topics, Ed was a well versed man and could talk intelligently on many topics, sometimes we even argued , now of course as we all knew -- Ed loved a good argument, and we would exchange the odd barb, but it was always in fun and we had a mutual respect between us. We talked a lot about our favorite game, Texas Holdem, which Ed loved and enjoyed so much, and I was always amazed at his knowledge of the game and he also had a deep respect for the game and for other players and always wanted to see the game played right. His other love was Politics and we had so many discussions about that. Ed's love for his Family of course always took top spot and we had many chats on Family as well.
We will all miss you ED as we have missed you for the past year or so at Poker as you battled your illness, and I look forward to chatting with you at the Great Poker Table where there will be no winners or losers but just great friends at a joyful reunion. God speed my friend , you have run the race, you have fought the fight you have finished the journey here in this place and a new journey awaits. Regards Glenn
