Obituary of Ronald Grimes Sr.

It is with great sadness that the family of Ronald Grimes Sr., age 86 years of Little Bay Islands announces his peaceful passing at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s. Ronald was a seaman who loved being on the water and always had stories to tell. Ronald missed his dearly loved hometown of Little Bay Islands as he resided with his son Ernie in St. John’s for the past seven years.

Predeceased by wife: Margaret of 59 years; daughter: Florence; daughter-in-law: Gertie; mother: Alexandrea Gillard; grandparents: Harriett and Peter Grimes; brothers: Bruce, Len, and Alex. Leaving to mourn, five sons: Frank, Dennis (Barbara), Ronald Jr. (Donna), Ernie (Surina), and Daniel (Charlene); son-in-law: Bruce; daughter-in-law: Juanita (Freeman); grandchildren: Patty-Lynn (Richard), Jennifer, Nicole (Brent), Chad (Ashley), Wayne (Amy), Peter (Jackie), Chris (Nikki), Tara, Noah, and Lucy; great-grandchildren: Joshua, Liam, Cayleigh, Azaria, Kaitlin, Keenan, Breah; sister: Yvette (Harry); special grandchildren: Hannah and Emma; also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Tuesday, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Wednesday, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, April 10 at 2:00 p.m. from Noel's Memorial Chapel, Carbonear. Interment in the Interfaith Cemetery, Carbonear.  In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to the Ronald Grimes Sr. Memorial Fund, c/o Noel’s Funeral Home, 106 Water Street, Carbonear, NL, A1Y 1A9.
