Obituary of Valma Mercer
Passed peacefully away at the Pte. Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion, Carbonear on Sunday, May 26, 2019, Valma Mercer of St. John's; formerly of Harbour Grace, age 67 years. Predeceased by infant son: Jamie; father: Isaac; twin brother: John; infant sister: Sadie; sister-in-law: Marlene Mercer. Leaving to mourn, longtime companion: Tom Hennessey; three daughters: Denise Sheppard, Harbour Grace, Lori (Gerald) Dove, Harbour Grace, and Pam (Raymond) Clarke, St. John’s; one son: Dennis (Jackie Turnbull), Harbour Grace, and their father: David Sheppard; sixteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; mother: Gladys Mercer, Upper Island Cove; two brothers: Malcolm (Marg), Upper Island Cove and Gary, Winsor, ON; three sisters: Marg (Claude) Pike, Spaniard’s Bay, Ruby (Melvin) Janes, Bryant’s Cove, and Marina (Rev) Churchill, Upper Island Cove; sister-in-law: Edith Mercer, Upper Island Cove; special friends: Linda Mahaney and Maxine Burden; also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace on Monday, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Wednesday, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, May 29 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Paul's Anglican Church, Harbour Grace. Interment in St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery, Harbour Grace.
