Obituary of Mary Ann 'Nan' Wheadon

Please share a memory of Mary Ann 'Nan' to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at the age of 95 years, Mary Ann “Nan” Wheadon of Broad Cove, Conception Bay North, a Scottish war bride who came to Newfoundland in 1946.

The fourth of six children born to Patrick and Jean (Stevenson) Page, a Scottish/Irish couple living in Leith (Edinburgh), Mom grew up in Dundee and it was there during the Second World War that she met and married a handsome sailor in the Royal Navy, Richard “Dick” Wheadon, from Bradley’s Cove, Newfoundland - our Dad.

Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by Dad in 1970, her brothers: James, David, & Patrick, and her sister: Cathie; also her dear friend, Ed Samson in 2015. Lovingly remembered by her brother George in Dundee, Scotland; her six children: Bob (Marilyn), Kay Fergusson, Jean (Roland) Parsons, David (Adele), Raymond (Anne) and Bonnie (Junior “Jake”) Parsons with whom she resided and who lovingly cared for her. Mom also leaves with cherished memories nineteen grandchildren: Marlene (Mario), Lori (Larry), Michael (Alison), John, Ricky (Renata), Angela (Kevin), Aaron (Jackie), Rebecca, Jessica (Justin), Angie (John), April (Dion), Ryan (Kim), Alison (Jacob), Amanda, Mark (Tanita),  Richard (Julia), Eric (Erika), David, Christopher (Tiffany); twenty-eight great-grandchildren: Everett, Gaige, Victoria, Christopher, Luke, Nicholas, Patrick, Courtney, Kieran, Adison, Scott, Nathaniel, Jack, Mavis, Emelia, Jasmine, Noah, Chloe, Rowan, Corrigan, Hannah, Jacob, Daniel, Abbie, Anna, Emma, Mylie and Kaylie;  and one great-great-granddaughter: Adison. Mom is also lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews and cousins in Scotland and England as well as the Wheadon extended family and friends including her special friend and homecare worker Leona King; staff of Moore’s Ambulance; and Dr. Christopher Peddle. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the wonderful people at the Dialysis Unit of Carbonear General Hospital who have been like family to Mom for the past ten years.  Their expertise and kindness made Mom’s dialysis days so much better.
