Obituary of Abe Hopkins
Passed peacefully away after a short illness surrounded by his loving family at the Carbonear General Hospital on Monday, July 1, 2019, Abe Hopkins of Carbonear; formerly of Bay de Verde, age 89 years. Predeceased by first wife: Bertha 'Doll'; parents: Eli and Sarah Jane; brother: Fred; sister: Clara Matthews. Leaving to mourn and to celebrate his wonderful life, his wife: Josie; children: Marilyn (Harry) Emberley, Wayde (Nita), Don (Joyce), Jim (Debbie), Ted (Linda), and Darlene (Mike) Dooley; step-son: Ed (Maureen); grandchildren: Tammy (Chad), Michelle (Brian), Timm (Shayne), Scott (Jackie), Rhonda (Mark), Robbie (Heather), Kelly (Adam), Stacy (Shawn), Kimberley (Greg), Michael (Kayla), David (Ashley), and Kyle (Alyssa); twenty-one great-grandchildren; one brother: Sterling (Lizzie); two sisters: Ruby (Melvin) Riggs and Annie Hopkins; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Wednesday, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Thursday, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Friday, July 5 at 2:00 p.m. from the Salvation Army Citadel, Carbonear. Interment in the Salvation Army Cemetery, Lower Island Cove. As an expression of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Centre, 300 Prince Philip Drive, St. John’s, NL, A1B 3V6.
