So sad to hear of Aunt Gert's passing. Since meeting her because of my marriage to Linda Crowley in the early seventies, we spent some fun times together:). Gert was a bright light of love and sincerity, full of integrity and the strength and dedication to work hard and bring her family up through tough times. Hoping the best for all the family through these sad days. Love to all, Jim Young and Family

Dearest kinfolk,
We feel very saddened to have heard the news of Aunt Gert's passing and also feel very blessed to have had her included in our lives. She was such a caring and thoughtful person, a true heart of gold that she carried within. As I recall throughout her life she maintained herself as a truly resilient character enduring the many challenges presented to her whilst never missing a beat for the consideration of others. She was 86 the last time we seen her and was commendably spry and of very sound mind, a true blessing that she was expressively thankful for. She was also very thankful for the continuum of love and support offered by so many of her relatives in Carbonear. We will dearly miss both her contributions and forever embrace the memories of her inclusion in our lives.
may God bless and hugs to all,
Mike & Sheila

Aunt Gertie was a kindhearted lady who always asked me how I was doing, as well as my husband and children. I enjoyed visiting her with Mom. She would put the kettle on for a cup of tea and some of her delicious baked treats. Love you and Rest in Peace

Well Aunt Gert, I certainly never thought I would be offering condolences here so early. Really thought that you would be around for another few years, but as we always said never know what cards we’ll be dealt in this lifetime. I’m going to miss our visits, our telephone conversations and all our discussions about family, years gone by and everyday events. You have been a big part of my life since you moved back home 15 years ago, you were a very independent person. You loved all your family first and foremost, I know you missed your family in Ontario, not seeing some of your grandchildren for over 15 years. But you had lots of family here who loved you dearly too, and will miss you so much. Your kindness and giving ways will be forever embedded in our hearts. We will forever remember your egg rolls, chocolate cheesecake muffins and zucchini cakes. You loved to bake and cook and share. The children dearly loved you and you them, you never forgot to ask about them and send along treats for them. You were a hard worker, an honest person and a good friend to many. Life was not always easy for you but you never let it get you down. Hope you’re resting peacefully now with your mother and father in your final resting place. Anjelina and Quinn certainly outdid themselves for your celebration of life, you would be so proud of them and all the family today gathered one last time at your house. God Bless you and hope you are celebrating in heaven with your mom and dad, brothers Gus, Loderick, Frank, Ron; sisters Jen, Jessie, Pearl and Grace. Rest peacefully Aunt Gert you were very much loved here by your family.
