Obituary of Hayward Shute
We are thankful for the life of our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Hayward Melvin Shute, age 81 years of Harbour Grace, who passed peacefully away on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at the Carbonear General Hospital. Hayward was an active member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church and a long-time brother of Lodge 476, Harbour Grace.
Predeceased by parents: William and Jessie; parents-in-law: John and Gertrude Smith; brother: William (Joyce); sisters: Eileen (Norman) Sheppard and Daisy Bradbury; nephew: Craig Shute; brother-in-law: Josiah Noel.
Leaving to mourn with precious memories, wife of 52 years, Joan (nee: Smith); daughters: Annette (Wally Williams), Grande Prairie, AB; Heather, Mount Pearl, and Sandra (Peter Noer), Cavendish; five grandchildren, whom he adored and loved beyond measure: Jeremy, Brittany, Anna, Simon, and his best buddy Adam; great-grandson: Jaxon; grand fur baby: Molly; brother: Wayne (Mary) Shute, Harbour Grace South; three sisters: Myrtle (Ed Hayes), Harbour Grace South, Florence (Nath Newman, deceased), Upper Island Cove, and Annie (Morley Colbourne), Carbonear; brothers-in-law: Winston Bradbury, Upper Island Cove and John (Lynne) Smith, Harbour Grace; sisters-in-law: Janet (Clifford Pike) and Betty (Cron Yetman, deceased), both of ON; uncle-in-law: Nigel (Ruby Smith, deceased), Bishop’s Cove; special friends: Aubrey and Linda Saunders, Harbour Grace. Hayward was a friend to all and an amazing uncle and great-uncle to a large number of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Resting at Noel’s Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace on Thursday, 8:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Saturday, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service to take place on Saturday, October 19 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Harbour Grace. Cremation to follow. Inurnment to be held Tuesday, October 22 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery, Harbour Grace. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to St. Paul’s Anglican Church, P.O. Box 28, Harbour Grace, NL, A0A 2M0.
