Obituary of Christine McCarthy

Passed peacefully away with her family by her side at her residence in Riverhead, Harbour Grace on Sunday, December 1, 2019 Christine Mary Mona McCarthy (nee Purcell), aged 60 years. She will be forever missed by her devoted husband of 38 years: Martin; her loving daughter: Melanie; her cherished grandson: Caleb. Also leaving to mourn with loving memories her brothers: Joe (Pat) Purcell and Brian (Maxine) Purcell; sisters: Mona (John) Healey, Ethel (Brian) Hunt and Carol Newman; brother-in-law: Bill (Donna) McCarthy; sisters-in-law: Frances (Dennis) O’Neil, Patsy Gibson and Anne Mercer; as well as a large number of other relatives. She will also be remembered by her many friends and co-workers who were blessed to know her throughout the years. Her beautiful smile, hearty laugh, hardworking nature and compassionate ways left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Christine fought a courageous battle to stay with her family as long as she could. In the end she was released of all pain and called to her Heavenly Home where she was welcomed by those family members who had gone before including her father: Edward; mother: Ellen; brother: Don Purcell; sisters: Isabelle Delaney and Madeline Bray; brother-in-law: Philip Delaney. The family would like to thank all those who helped care for Christine including Dr. Meagan Hayes; nurse: John Pollett; homecare workers: Adrienne and Lesley, and the professional and caring staff at the dialysis unit at the Carbonear Hospital. Special thanks to Anne Mercer, Patsy Gibson and to her dear sister Carol for your support and kindness during this difficult time. The Family will be celebrating Christine’s life with visitation at Noel’s Funeral Home, Harbour Grace on Wednesday, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.  Funeral Mass to take place on Thursday, December 5 at 9:30 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Riverhead, Harbour Grace. Cremation to follow. Inurnment to be determined at a later date.
